I am so elated for you! ! ! Call or text when you can. . .

I will give you a call when we get across the border and in the car and on the road -- I didnt' get the mexican plan on my phone -- as no one at Verizon seemed to be able to figure it out. So once we're on the road tomorrow, I'll give you a holler. Keep gettning better and resting -- that will give your body time to heal.

It is great to know you are doing better! I have been thinking of you, make sure to keep me up to date!

Hanging in there -- I will be sure to keep you up to date. I think the fact that you, Ruthi and I were all here together bonds us -- not that we aren't all bonded on this site, just the 3 of us are bonded a bit closer.

There is another gal here who had her surgery on Saturday and she is from Henderson, NV. I told her about the VST sight so hoping she will join up and get to know all the wonderful people there are this site and the wealth of information to be had.

Nina's mom was just in (can't remember her name) and gave me all my paperwork, films, medications and marching orders. What a sweetheart she is.

We've had a great nurse the past two days (not that they haven't all been great) His name is Francisco ... he speaks pretty good english so it is fun to tease with him; however, I'm sure he probably thinks we're a bit wacky at times! LOL

Internet still sucks, but it is better than nothing!

Will write more later.

Take care all !!!

I borrowed Dr. Campos' lap top every day I was there. It was a lifesaver. he

is good about letting people borrow it. Ask Sergio.

OMG - I stepped on the scale this morning and since surgery I've been losing about 1 lb. a day ... this morning I was down 6.6. I reweighed myself 3 times and everytime it was the same.

Wow, a good night sleep, no coughing fits and DOWN 6.6 lbs. you can bet I was doing the HAPPY DANCE!!!

That's a total of 20.2 lbs. since surgery on 6/12.

Water weight or actual weight -- I don't care -- its 20.2 lbs in 9 days ... unfriggin believable!:lol0::lol0: :001_tongue:

A pound or two a day? Sheesh, you guys. You're doing great. I'm jealous. I go a few days and then drop a pound and then maybe another the next day and then nothing for a while.

It went pretty good - however, the only Soups Applebees has is Chili, French Onion and Tomato Basil. Chili, obviously as definitely out, I HATE onions - although I did ask for a tiny bit to see if my tastes might have changed -- NOPE ... and so I opted for a bowl of the tomato basil -- YES, I know, not a clear food, but the best I could come up with. It wasn't totally Soup either - there were really tiny chunks in it ... so I did the best I could to just get the Soup part -- I ate about 5-6 bites and brought the rest home. However, I noticed as the time went on, I had terrible acid reflux. So when we got home I took another nexium and that got rid of it ... and then I got to thinking -- DUH, you're tummy doesn't like basil ... and that was what was in the soup - so go figure! I also had an iced tea -- which I nursed all night long and still didn't finish.

:sad0: First off, Congratulations on the awesome weight loss:thumbup1:

Your doing great! I can't wait to have my Sleeve done and rid myself of this lap band.....

One thing to keep in mind that anytime you have surgery Regardless if it's weight loss surgery, your body has to heal itself, and will use LOTS of calories in the process.... So maybe this could account for some of the loss???? Not sure but who cares right??? As long as those pounds come off -

Keep us posted on your success! I'm so excited for you!!:biggrin2:

Yeah, that cracks me up too. I never lost more than 5 lb. in any one week and mostly did 4-5 the first couple of weeks and then settled into a steady 2-3 lb. loss.

Sometimes it can be a little frustrating to see people dropping major poundage, but I figured that the main thing was to get there in the end. And I got to goal in 6.5 months so all my angst over people who seemed to be losing faster was for naught!

How difficult has maintaining been?

I'll let you know when I stop losing. :frown1:

My only weight goal was to get to a normal BMI. But once I got there, I knew I had more work to do. I got down under 120 and at this point I'm mostly satisfied. I am hoping to go down to 115 and then bounce around that point, but I wouldn't cry if I never got below what I am at now.

So I consider myself on maintenance and I'm not actively trying to lose. But I am still losing... a pound here and there.

Oh I am sure I will drop down to slow ... I am sure this weight loss is mostly fluids, so I'm not putting too much emphasis on it. I know the hard work is in front of me.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
