Tomorrow I join the other side ...

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow at 12pm I will join the other side, slightly nervous (I won't lie) & excited at the same time. I have wanted this for a long time, thought about it for several years and it has taken about 1 1/2 years to get approved. I was denied last year for being 5 lbs too light, gave up and then this past summer decided to try it again after discussing it with a banded friend ... And here I am. Here's to hoping I get some sleep!!!

Congratulations! Long journey -- I am hopefully on my way soon and will be joining you in the new banded life. The five pound too light issue has been following me as well -- you are going to melt those five pound chunks in no time! Recover well, take it easy and thanks for posting for us pre-banders. Best wishes!

Oh my that left shoulder pain. Of all things and possibilities, THAT was by far the worst (and no one told me).

I hope your surgery goes well and congrats on beginning your journey. Keep looking forward and never back. :)

The gas pains scare me... how bad do they hurt? I can tolerate some pain but is there something you can compare it to?

The gas just hurts ... Not like a 10/10 but it's uncomfortable. I found when they allowed me to start sit up and the to walk is when I felt the change or movement if gads in my body.

Sorry I started to post & accidentally hit send .... The gas pains are uncomfortable & a different pain than my incisions. I feel bloated and that feeling if you have a big fart trapped so you are uncomfortable - once you let it go there is relief. I've been burping & that's helped. Also taking gas-ex dissolvable strips & that has seemed to help. I'm currently laying with a heating pad & that has made this slightly easier. You are just going to be very uncomfortable ... I'm trying to think if other ways to describe the gas pain

The gas pain for me is just annoying. It hurts, but not like crazy. It's bothersome. And it's also worth it....which you will find when the scale starts to move!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
