June 2006 Band Crew

Recommended Posts

Hi June bandsters,

I will be banded on June 2nd by Dr. Ortiz in Mexico. I am looking forward to this surgery. I have spent over 1 1/2 years trying to get this going. I can't believe the time is almost here. I am ready to start living life again. I just want to say good luck to all the future bandsters.

OMG I am so excited for all of us. My dr doesn't really require a pre-op diet just 2 days of Clear liquids prior. I feel like I have such a long road ahead of me. But I know I can do this. I feel like this is my time. I have been someones caretaker my whole life and its time for me to take care of me. I want to try to get some of this weight off before my 40th birthday next year.

My email addy is kimsretro@comcast.net :)

Have a great day:clap2:

Kim

Congrats SalemKitty --

I can't imagine having to wait that long for the surgery. You know the old saying, "better things come to those who wait." Congrats!!

I am scheduled to be banded June 5th with Dr. Lavin who is with Surgical Specialist of Louisiana. I am doing my pre-op May 26th. I am anxious but very nervous......One day i am having the surgery the next day I am not. When I read all the post about the complications i turn into a big chicken......then i read all the good stuff and say Yeah i can do this.......Mixed Emotions here. We definitely need all the support we can get. Good Luck to all the June Bandsters!!!!!

DISCOURAGED

I just received a phone call that I have to have a second sleep study done, so it looks like my surgery is going to be postponed. UGH:faint:

I know that its good to get this taken care of now, but I know that if I were having any other surgery, they would not do a sleep study. So I think I will still be a Junebee, but just a few weeks later. :angry

I am feeling a little down today. I was on a high for a few weeks and this news just was a big blow. I started this process on April 8th and have had alot of luck with dr appts getting done pretty quick. So I shouldnt be too concerned, but its in my nature....LOL

Well thanks for letting me rant.

Have a great day.:biggrin1:

Kim

Kim, please rant away! I can empathize. I started this jouney in August of last year; I didn't think I'd ever get a band.

Hi Kim --

I'm so sorry to hear of the delay in your surgery. But it's always better to be safe than sorry. You will have a good chace to have your surgery in June. But even if it doesn't happen in June ---You are still a Junebee to me :D .

Let us know how your sleep study goes and your new surgery date.

hey everyone,

Just an update! Today is day 6 of pre-op - liquid Protein + up to 225 cals in veggies per day. As of this morning I am officially down 17.6 lbs! YEAH ME!!!!

It is coming off faster than I would have thought - although historically I can usually lose pretty well - I just can't keep it lost - it keeps finding me again along with some friends!

Surprisingly enough - I can not and have not eaten a full 225 cals of veggies - that is a LOT of veggies - and they are supposed to be greener and above ground types - so they are limited - but it is an enormous amount of veggies. The other surprising thing is that my hunger is diminishing - not sure why that is - probably my stomach is shrinking some.

Anyway - exactly 2 weeks this morning I will be 1 day post-op! June 2 is Rolling on!

how is everyone else doing???

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
