Protein Bar Question

Recommended Posts

I would like to put some Protein Bars into my Daily food intake, but I'm not sure which is best for me nutritionally. There seems to be a wide variety in regards to calories and Protein, does anybody have any suggestions for lower calories and higher protein and especially protein bars with not so much sugar in them. Any advise would be greatly appreciated look forward to hearing from you all.

I like Pure Protein bars, chewy and tasty, like a dessert. High in Protein and very low sugar.

Although the Bariatric Advantage bars - KetoGenX bars dont taste so good, they are high in Fiber and protein so they keep me full longer.

A rule of thumb they use at my clinic is that if it doesn't have at least 20g or more of Protein then it's not worth it. I used to love the Titan bars and I think they have 26g of protein. You just have to be careful because some bars are all sugar and no protein.

I am on 800 calorie a day diet and looked at Protein bars the last time I was in the grocery store. The lowest calorie content I found was 180, so only being able to take in 800 calories a day I just don't see how Protein bars are anywhere in my future.

Plus I have noticed that if I consume many carbs my weight plateaus so just another reason i have to pass on protein bars.

--very interested if anyone know of

(low cal / low carb / high protein) options--

Almost all the ones I looked at were over 200 calories a bar. Not sure if I would want to expend a sixth of my daily allotment for that.

I have not been able to find any decent Protein bars either:( They are all either high calorie, high carb, taste nasty, or all of the above But can anyone recommend a good Protein Powder? Something low calorie and high protein, possibly flavorless that I can just add to Soup, oatmeal, yogurt, or a smoothie? Thank you!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
