Hi Rainbow.

Welcome to LBT. I am in Western Mass. too (Springfield) and I had my surgery with Dr. Fiallo at Baystate. How come you are going all the way to Boston? Good luck to you on your surgery. When are you having it?

I really don't have a surgery date yet. I guess I could get that May 26th that is when I meet Dr. Snow. I was told informal it could be in June. So far I am very very very happy with BIDMC. I head Dr Schneider explain the process at BIDMC.

I know 3 people who have had

the gastric bypass from Baystate and are doing great. I see Dr Higby at Baystate, well really at Mary Lane. Then my primary care and surgeon is at Wing Hosp. I guess you could say I am speading around the ins. $ LOL.

Hi,

Has anyone had lap band at Mercy?? I am getting scared because I do not see ANYONE who has had surgery there, only one person who looked into it and got "spooked" I am scheduled for consultation with Dr. Kasper June 28th, should I run away????

Hi Rainbow,

I was banded by Dr. Jones as well. It's three weeks tomorrow and I am down about 17lbs. I have to admit, I'm hungry on liquids now but I see Doc on Wednesday and I'm hoping to go to mushies!

Good Luck!

Julie

i have gone thru cancer treatment and still have to see doctor every 3 months, and a form of treatment every 6 wks. so i am jumpy anyway.

just because i did not choose Mercy doesn't mean you should not. i was told you should find out how many times the sugeon has done the procedure (do not want to be one of the first 100)and you should not be the first. i am also going to BIDMC because my son's wife works there also so i'll have extra eyes on me.

I have to say i did not check out Baystate, but i am very happy with them for my cancer treatment.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
