Hi all! I was filled almost 2 months ago, and i was finally at a level that i was happy with, possibly my sweet spot =) however, last week i caught some kind of bug that was making me throw up and i believe it just caused me to swell REALLLLY bad. this was Thursday. Over the weekend i kept it simple with warm liquids and applesauce, sometimes it would go down, sometimes it wouldnt. This morning I sipped tea, but i can still feel that I'm very tight. I left a message with my surgeon explaining the situation and asking if he thinks I should be loosened or not. I was just wondering if anyone else has had a stomach bug and shared this experience??? i would hate to get loosened as I really like this level that i am at (prior to getting sick). I am kind of hoping that maybe the swelling will lesson, but i also dont want to take any risks...... any suggestions are much appreciated!!

Do what the doc recommends.

Ale,

Doc is going to tell you to do one of two things

1) get at least partial unfill until inflammation subsides

2) continue on liquids for as long as up to a week to get the inflammation down

The problem is, with a swollen stoma, even drinking fluids further irritates it and either prolongs or exasperates the swelling.

It is imperative that if you come down with a bug that causes vomitting that you get an unfill until it passes. This allows the inevitable (vomitting) without the problems (inflammation). And it takes far less time to get back up to where you were than going the long route of getting unfilled or drinking fluids while inflammed and play the waiting game.

Continue with fluids until you hear back from your doc. Let us know what they said

so, just an update. My doctor did tell me to get unfilled if i was still throwing up, but havent in days. The swelling is def going down, just a little extra tight in the morning and still sticking to mushy foods. He has an office right by my job on that he goes to on Thursdays, so I can go see him if i feel i need the unfill. Thanks tho!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
