My doc put me on mushies and I made some chili with ground turkey and puréed it and I'm scared to deaths to eat it!!!! I am taking tiny bites and I feel like I'm gonna cry!!!! Will I ever get over the fear of eating and having something get stuck?!?!? :(

Yes, that fear will pass. I felt the same way for a long time, and now I have to force myself to remember to take small bites, and chew well. I've never had a stuck episode, or PBs, but sometimes I don't pay close attention, and realize that I'm veering off track.

FYI, I also started on ground turkey with refried Beans. I didn't puree it, but I took tiny bites and chewed to a pulp. To this day, over five months later, it's still one of my favorite "band-friendly" meals. I make it at least once a week.

Thanks...I managed to make it thru my meal without any problems. I just have this HUGE fear of throwing up!!! Scares me to death!!!! I actually ended up dumping out the puréed bowl and go a regular bowl of chili cuz I felt more in control I guess lol. Made me feel a little better about eating :)

If you remember to practice self awareness and follow the Bandster rules for eating properly, you should have nothing to be overly concerned about.

Most Bandsters will have at least one stuck episode during their weight loss journeys, and rarely is there any significant long lasting negative consequence. In fact, it can be a learning experience to recognize the " early warning signs" to avoid a stuck episode.

It is best to avoid a stuck episode, but it is not the end of the world...good to read that you were able to eat your meal. It will become easier with time. The more we confront our fears, the easier it will be to overcome them.

Best wishes...

Been stuck twice so far and it's not the end of the world, but like sojourner said it does teach a lesson which a stone cold food junkie like myself needs!

I was so glad I could eat at any of the early levels mushy were great after liquids, and soft food made mushy forgettable and so on!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
