Does your bariatric center have support groups? If not, post your city and state here and let people know you are interested in starting a group.

Good Luck!

I 'm in Ohio, but I'd be glad to correspond with you. We can always use support, correct? I'm a retired technical writer, but have also worked as a library director and college/high school teacher. (Sounds like I can't hold a job, huh.)I have two kids, one in Redmond, WA and one in Honolulu. I was bended several years ago and lost about 75 pounds. I gained a little back, but after re-banding I have lost the regain and now am working on becoming a scrawny old lady. Ok, a thinner one.

Hi meg!! My name is Melissa and I'm not in NY but more than happy to email, text, IM.

I was banded May 2009 and lost over 150 pounds. I was given the green light in May 2011 to try to get pregnant and I delivered a beautiful daughter in May 2012. I gained 34 pounds while pregnant but also about 30 pounds while trying to get pregnant.

It was a very hard mental struggle to watch the scale go up and since I've had my daughter the struggle to lose was a battle in itself.

I am an OB nurse in a busy clinic, married to a man who runs a billion dollar oil company who never stops and have a busy bee 14 month old.

On aug 23 I just had my port and tubing replaced due to a leak and now back on my journey to lose this 20 pounds I've gained.

You can email me at anytime at txnursemelissa@yahoo.com

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
