I just had my surgery Thursday. I get my claims set to me online. I was self pay but since I had a hiatal hernia repaired at the same time, I only paid $5,500 out of pocket. It looks like True Results billed aetna $17,500 for the EGD and $29,000 for the hernia repair! I don't know what to do but I can't be responsible for them battling it out, right? I paid my portion as agreed upon. I'm assuming if I owed more, TR would have billed me before the procedure? Anyone had this situation?

I have the same problem! I just posted a thread about this. Please let me know if you know something. I used True Results with United Health Care.

I was self pay and used True Results. I ended up also having a hernia repaired. BCBS sent me info saying I MAY owe xx amount but 7 months later True Results has never sent me an additional bill. I think now days insurance companies deny claims first time they are submitted. I say don't worry and don't ask until you get an actual bill. And then ask them to resubmit the claim, use the services of your insurance rep (most companies that provide employees insurance have one but don't always makes that known), and if you must set up a payment plan. And don't agree to any amount that will stress your budget. Tell me what you can pay and be firm. Make them see they'll still get their money otherwise they get none.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
