new recipes for mushies

Recommended Posts

This was posted awhile ago on this site. It was a life savor (I don't like many mushy foods).

Lasagna Bowl

1/4 low fat cottage cheese

1/4 c spaghetti sauce

1/4 c shredded mozzarella cheese

1 Tbsp Parmesan cheese

Mix cottage and spaghetti sauce and microwave for about 45 seconds. Sprinkle on both cheeses (I just use mozzarella) and microwave for about 30 seconds more.

It's really yummy and satisfying. Good luck!

I read this on here when I was first banded and I loved this one.

A small Wendy's chili. (Or better yet make your own homemade turkey chili to save on calories and fat)

put in a blender and add some nonfat sour cream if desired.

I make the home made turkey chili grind up all the vegies in the blender to make them easier to digest and put some shredded cheddar on top lightly sprinkled. This was my life saver. The change in flavor was just what I needed.

Ingredients

1 spray(s) Cooking spray

1 tsp Oil, canola

1 large Onion(s), uncooked, chopped

2 clove(s) Garlic, fresh, minced

1 pound(s) Turkey, ground, 93% lean/7% fat, raw

2 medium Carrots, uncooked, thinly sliced into rounds

2 Tbsp Chili powder

1 Tbsp Paprika

1½ tsp Pepper, red or cayenne

1 tsp Durkee Cumin, ground, or other brand

2 medium Tomatoes, fresh, chopped

1 cup(s) Tomato sauce, canned

1 cup(s) chicken broth, canned (fat free)

1½ Tbsp Vinegar, apple cider

1½ cup(s) Beans, kidney, cooked, rinsed and drained

1 medium Pepper, green, chopped

½ tsp Salt, table, or to taste

⅛ tsp Pepper, black, or to taste

¼ cup(s) Scallions, chopped

Instructions

1. Coat a large pot with cooking spray; place over medium heat. Add oil and onion; sauté onion until soft, about 5 to 7 minutes. Add garlic and carrots; cook until garlic is softened, about 1 minute. Add turkey; brown meat, breaking it up with a wooden spoon as it cooks, about 5 minutes. Stir to break up lumps.

2. Add chili powder, paprika, red pepper flakes, cumin, tomatoes, tomato sauce, broth, vinegar, Beans and green pepper; bring mixture to a boil. Cover, reduce heat and simmer until meat and vegetables are tender, about 30 to 45 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper; garnish with scallions. Yields about 1 cup per serving.

I used to make that with a little bit of garlic powder added as well.

The cheese scared me too the first time I ate it. Just chew, chew, chew and it will go down just fine. I eat this now after a fill when I'm allowed mushies on the second day after.

Here are a couple other things I ate during the mushy stage. I'm a picky eater so it was hard to find things.

Egg salad...hard boiled eggs, miracle whip, and a squirt of mustard. I mashed up the eggs because I've heard they can get stuck. Ate it with no problems.

Nonfat plain Greek yogurt (Cobani, Fage, Dannon)...I hate the taste of yogurt, especially Greek. I put in Mio (liquid flavoring) and it tastes great. Mio has no calories or artificial junk. You could also mix in a tbsp of Peanut Butter (extra protein) and a tsp or two of Stevia sweetner instead of the Mio.

Peanut Butter yogurt: 4ozs of plain or vanilla nonfat greek yogurt and 1 tablespoon (1oz) of creamy Peanut Butter. Tastes like the inside of a Reese Cup. Can add a package of sweetner if using plain yogurt and you can use the PB2 powdered yogurt for less calories.

I eat this almost daily even when I'm not on mushies. lol.

I thought this sounded gross, but tried it and is wonderful!

Fat free cottage cheese drizzled with honey, yes I said honey, it is sweet and salty.

I find I crave this now. It is sooooo good.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
