I was banded on Friday the 2nd, surgery went great didn't have any problems, but I was in pretty bad pain after surgery. The pain has gotten somewhat better now, I think the gas is starting to move around more, I've been walking and trying to get as much Fluid in as possible but it's hard when you have a ton of gas pain. I'm also having this weird pain that starts at the top of my stomach and rolls up my esophagus then goes away, I keep thinking its gas but nothing ever comes out. Has anyone else experienced this?

I am only a week and a half out and that stuff was all pretty much gone for me by day 6. I was banded on a Wednesday and Friday was by far my worst day. It gets better and very quickly! :)

I had the same pain in my stomach. Felt like I had to burp but never did. Turned out to be acid reflux. Tums made it go away immeadiately

I thought maybe it was acid reflux, I took a Prilosec, are any of you having problems swallowing pills? My doctor gave me some pains meds in pill form I've been crushing them and adding some Tylenol to it, he says its ok to swallow them but I'm just scared! How do I know what's too big?

I'm just so scared about this whole stuck thing I really don't wanna go through it, is it possible to get stuff stuck if you don't have any Fluid in your band?

My surgeon told me, if possible, avoid any pill larger than a Skittle. He prescribed Prilosec but told me to break open the capsule and sprinkle on room temperature applesauce

Wow ok, I don't have any Fluid in my band and I'm still freaking out a little???³ but it makes me feel better to know that you have 5cc and the pills go down. But I'm still on the clear diet and I'm starving!!

I feel a little better today, under my arm still hurts because of the port and my left rib has a bad burning pain at the bottom of it. Something else that happened this morning is I was leaning overt counter brushing my teeth when I felt this sharp pain so I looked and there was another incision I had no clue I had, so I think my stomach is starting to wake up its not so numb anymore

I'm day 5 post op. The pain and swelling have gone and I took a mile walk at the beach this morning. The incision sites are a little itchy and its a touch tender on the spot above the port. Aside from that, I'm feeling great.

That's great to hear!! I hope I'm doing as good as you on my 5th day! I'm just so weak and hungry at this point.

Try a half-cup of clear, non-fat chicken broth (which was on my stage 1 post-op diet). I asked my local Chinese restaurant for some and they obliged. I left it in the refrigerator for a day to congeal any fat so I could skim it, but it had already been defatted. Warm and slightly savory - helped get me past the low points in the first couple of days.

Are you only allowed Clear Liquids right after post op? Some doctors allow Protein shakes... Mine did. If not, you should call them and ask if you can have shakes... You're healing and being in pain AND hungry defeats that purpose; so ease call your doc

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
