I am extremely happy with my decisions... Although I do constantly have to remind myself that "it will all be worth it in the end"! I repeat that several times a day!

I weighed 255 at my first pre-op appt (7/1) and weighed 243 the day of my surgery (7/29). Yesterday (8/1) I weighed myself and was 238. It was a nice feeling finally breaking the 240 barrier because my weight never seemed to drop below that!

I will be 25 tomorrow so I also consider this a birthday present to myself! I'll just have to have a Popsicle to Celebrate instead of cake!

Hi!

My name is Amelia and I am having the lap band on 8/14. I'm excited, but also nervous. I'm new to the site. I hope it will be a good support system and also have lots of good info. Good Luck to everyone! I will be turning 30 this November and its time to do something for myself and start living a more active life.

Wow that is awesome! Congratulations on your success so far, I'm so proud of you! And happy birthday to you! 25 is a wonderful age, I was very happy in my 20's :-)

I know there are bad days but hearing how well people are already doing is a huge help.

My biggest problem has always been eating, I've been single for nearly 5 years and living on my own since I was 17, I find if I'm alone I don't care what I eat or how I do it. This month I'm working on not eating bad, starting my work outs and staying hydrated through the day (no more soda) I've cleaned out my pantry, fridge and freezer and only bring good food into the house. I'm hoping I can keep this up and I know my band will help me with size portions and hopefully the crazy carb cravings I currently have lol.

Thanks Hun, lets please keep in touch. Do you have FB?

Fluids flow right through a wide open band and into the lower stomach. No need to worry about anything at this point.

I'm still wrapping my head around this all..so the liquids post op diet is too Heal the stomach, so in actuality no true restrictions until the fill ( or if surgeon filled at surgery) which I have no fill...other than the small struggle of shoulder pain and lack os seldom burps I'm doing ok.

Sounds like you are headed on the right path, we've eliminated sodas in our house for almost 5 years or so.. I'm not a fan of diet anything but I've been finding great alternatives... 1/2 diet lemonade and 1/2 unsweetened tea(diet arnold palmer) from chick-fil-a yummy... Plus the kids meal grilled nuggets wi fruit cup instead of waffle fries..better alternative..

Yes! It is the heal the stomach! You currently have no fill in the band, no restriction. The shoulder pain is from gas, get some gas x and take it and also heat from a heating pad helps that should pain a ton!!! Congrats on being banded!!!! :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
