I do not get banded until October 4th. I am obsessive, in my defense I have waited for this for 10 years... However it is darn near all I think about, read about and want to talk about. I am a planner so I am planning. I think my husband is getting annoyed with the constant lap band chatter. But, school starts tomorrow and he will miss me and be happy for the chatter. Lol

Pre op - found shakes and recipes for shakes I find to be yummy after taste testing, even found how to make Protein pudding and ice cream so I can feel like I am eating. I got this way because I love food, so soon I can eat healthy and enjoy my food more by making it with more thought. The term I heard used was "Thoughtful Eating" and that is going to be my mantra! (I am currently a speed eater). NEED to work on eating smaller bites slower.

Post op - I have made homemade Soup stocks and broths added whey Protein to them and froze 1 oz individual servings. I have beef, chicken, and a cabbage/ham for the clear food stage.

Any other get ready early ideas would be great. Thanks!

Good for you Helli. You sound like you are really ready to make the changes needed to be successful. Most of this is a head game anyway. Yes...the band is a real help with feeling satiated on less but so much of it is battling head hunger and old habits. Thoughtful eating is really a perfect statement as most of us got into this predicament because we ate mindlessly...just shoving more and more food into our faces. The food is just as good, if not more so when you truly enjoy the small portions you consume. In fact, I was out to dinner last night and had two forkfuls of lobster mac and cheese. It was delish and I enjoyed the taste without going crazy and eating all of it.

As far as the hubby getting annoyed....just post here on this forum. It's lapband 24/7 and this way you don't obsess with him but you can obsess as much as you want with us...lol.

Good luck on your journey. I know you will be a success story for sure.

I only had to wait 2 weeks and the wait nearly drove me mad. Lol. Just keep yourself occupied like you're doing. Good luck!

PS - A good trick to make yourself slow down is to put your utensil down between each bite and don't get your next bite ready before you've even swallowed your previous one.

Thank you. I have been wanting this and so uncomfortable in my own body for so long it will have ups and downs I know. I am ready not only for the ride but to be at the wheel!

School started today so I will definitely be busy! Lol I did get out of cafeteria duty (so bad in a high school) because I told only my principal about the surgery and when I explained the pre op diet and my possibly tackling an innocent child for their corn dog he agreed that I should be at the basketball courts. Lol

PS I am also going to use tiny, baby sized utensils.

Thanks for the feedback.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
