Did you meet with a nutritionist at your doctor's office? If they have one there, that would be the best person to help outline your eating plan. 1500 calories of fried foods and sweets isn't going to give your body the nutritional support it needs. And eating bad foods isn't preparing you for what's ahead.

My pre-op diet was 1200 calories; lower fat, lower carb. Basically, it was Protein, veggies and fruit, with a little bit of good carbs mixed in.

My pre-op diet started a week before surgery. I could have 3 to 4 Protein Meal Replacement shakes, 1 Protein Bar, and then Clear liquids like broth, Jello, and crystal light stuff like that. I am surprised they have not given you a guideline, maybe you could call and ask them to be more specific because it is going to be important, the usual reason for a pre-op diet is to shrink the liver if the liver is to large when they get in there they may not be able to do the surgery. This is not meant to scare you just inform you. The bottom line though is do whatever your doctor says

Definitely call your doctor to find out. Everyone has a different variation of a low fat low calorie semi liquid diet. I have a 1000 calorie diet of Protein Shakes two cup limit on non starchy vegetables, 30 calorie limit on sugar free ice pops and Jello.< /p>

Being informed beforehand is indispensable if you're gonna be successful with this tool, and your primary source of information SHOULD be your surgeon, his staff & his nutritionist. I'm baffled they sent you home with NO GUIDELINES....! That's a red flag in my opinion.

The only info they sent me home with was a paper that said start a 1500 low Cal diet I was shocked to no directions on what I'm suppose to eat or anything!

I agree with HotButterfly.... and as this is not a end all be all, but i scanned the information my doctor gave me and My NUT gave me. I am by no means saying these are the guidelines you need to follow, but it does have some great information.

I wish you all the luck ....

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
