Had my first appointment

Recommended Posts

Well, I did it. I went to see the surgeon to discuss LB. He thinks I am a. Excellent candidate for it... The office staff was very nice in answering questions. I have a physical and appt for RD scheduled next week. Provided insurance approves everything my surgery could be as early as the end of August. I have looked forward to this for over 5 years. Why am I so scared? Fear of failure?? Like all other attempts to loss weight. Fear of surgery? What if Something goes wrong. I am not telling my family I am doing this (obviously hubby knows... Not kids, my mom or anyone else) No one can "I told you so" if it doesn't work. Are these normal feelings?

Yes, they are ALL normal feelings and insecurities. Youre gonna need a great support system, so unless you think your close family members are going to sabotage you, it will be very hard to hide it from them.

I don't want to talk about mine to anyone but close family. Otherwise everyone is watching as you eat. Close family will be more educated on the yes & no's of what is happening. You will be so pleased with this tool, you will want to shout it out, but as time goes on you will be judged as you eat in public. This is just my 2 cents worth of advise to you. . . . .good luck & healthy happy days ahead!

My reasons behind not telling them are 1) it's not their battle it's mine. They haven't helped in 20 years why would they start now. When I was losing weight I was accused of being bulemic. (if you knew how tiny my hands are you would see the humor in that)

2) they Would try to convince me not to... Not out of concern but because they are large as well.

3) sabatoge. I knew they would try to.

And I have one of those relatives that "knows someone who knows someone who had that done and..... A truck fell from the sky on her"

So I guess it's for self preservation.

No need to tell people. I didn't . No need to get everyone's "expert" opinion. My battle my buisness. Only I knew what it was like emotionally and physically to be big and only I can understand my decision to get LB and the everyday battle even now.

But congrats on your decision. And we are here for you. I didn't tell many people so I confide in this forum :)

Today was the visit with RD and NP. Really didn't learn a lot from the appt. If it is approved by ins I have to do the pre-op diet for 2 weeks. Which I tried a similar diet and it lasted 3 days. I was starving. Well. The wait has begun. They said it can take up to 3 weeks to hear back.

Wow very fast with your appointments With the pre op diet I loved and still love my Edy's Popsicles. They have 2 different ones. The ones I like have the kiwi ones in the box. They are SF and much tastier than the real Popsicles brand good Luck with everything. I didn't tell many people. I don't tell anyone except my husband and this site my weight loss or my weight. My business.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
