Port incision scar tissue?

Recommended Posts

How long did it take for this to soften? I have been banded nearly four months and the scar tissue (I am assuming here) under the incision is still quite solid. It feels somewhat tender and deep. Before my first fill I thought it was my port, but I know my port is significantly deeper and to the south of the port scar. Does anyone have this? Am I silly for even noticing? Could it be *secret fear alert* a pocket of drainage that never made it? ick

This has probably been addressed on 'Scar Stages', I was just impatient for all the beautiful belly pics to load. If everyone could just chime in and tell me that you have scar tissue I would be grateful. Thanks.

My incision is about 5 inches long and it is just below my waistband. It is weird, I thought I had a lot of scar tissue and sometimes that area gets firm and feels swollen. My Dr.'s nurse said part of what I am feeling is the port ( I can really feel that part now that I've my 1st fill) and the firm, swollen part may be part of the large intestines/colon pushing out on the area where my scar is when my large intestine is full. There is a great picture if you want to compare where your incision is, and if it is over something that be pushing up on it: http://www.webmd.com/hw/health_guide_atoz/tp10133.asp

I have noticed if I'm "full" my incision kind of pushes out and feels like firm like scar tissue. I may be way off base because your incision is probably in a different area. I just thought I would share with you a point of view I wouldn't have figured out on my own.

Thanks ladies. What I am talking about is on the left, just under my ribs. A semi-solid mound, tender to press, just over my stomach, but slightly lower than where I believe the band is placed. My actual port is just below my actual waistline. Maybe it is scar tissue, maybe it is my tubing? Just weird. Oh well. I don't think I am dying any faster than anyone else so I'll let it go.

Unless it gets bigger... then I am freaking out, K?

Is it right in the middle? Like just under the breastplate? If so, that's where the liver retracter goes in. Mine's tiny. Hardly noticable now, and I was banded a week before you. Got any pics to share of it so we can have a better look? Or is it just something you're feeling under the skin?

Er.. sorry, you said on the left. So.. Im a bit confused I guess. My port is on the right, just under my ribs. On the left I have an incision scar that's about an inch long. The surface of the scar is kind of hard, moreso than my port scar. And you say its tender to touch? After all this time, that sounds fishy to me. Has your Dr seen it during follow up appts?

Nope, haven't had it looked at yet. I am a MX bandster on a limited budget. Currently I am planning a fill as close to yesterday as possible so I will ask about it then. Pics wouldn't do any good P'nut, the weirdness is inside of me..*making ghost sounds*

I could take a picture of me pointing to where it hurts, but that would be more for my own amusement than anything else. Thanks for trying to help.

I too have scar tissue below the incision where my port is on the left side, just below my waistline. My doctor always tells me "wow, lots of scar tissue:. He said it will go away eventually, but my husband has scar tissue from a surgery over 25 years ago, so who knows.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
