I'm being banded Sept 13th with Dr. Ahmad on Long Island. I've been reading a lot of surgery day stories and it seems like people have such a variety if experiences. Is anyone else nervous?

I know what you mean! I have three kids under 5 and there's so much I want to do with them- ride bikes, play tennis, and a Mommy and Me gymnastics class with my two year old that I've avoided because I didn't want to be the big out of shape Mommy out of breath and sweaty . I'm not supposed to start the preop diet until the 23rd but I think I'm going to start on Monday. I want to get myself on that kind of structured eating and I also, after all this waiting, just want to get to it! My husband has not been super supportive so I hope that doesn't make it harder. I'm so glad for this forum!

Did you start your pre op diet when you were thinking about it or did you start it today? How's it going so far? Is your husband more supportive yet?

I actually started yesterday and it's difficult. Three shakes, one Protein and veggie meal, two pieces a fruit a day. One day at a time!

My husband is not being supportive at all, he keeps telling menu should be losing weight in my own.

How about you? When do you start preop?

My surgery is not until Sept 27 so I won't start until the 6th and it will be 3wks of two Protein shakes and an Atkins meal a day :( so not looking forward to it BUT I know there is light at the end of the starvation tunnel!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
