Pre-Op Shakes are AWFUL!

Recommended Posts

I just started my pre op diet (even though dr. didn't say to) and I was very happy with click expresso. Not bad at all. Tomorrow I'll try the unjury chocolate sample and let you know.

Im curious to see how you like that one as well... I had someone suggest it to me! So let us know. :)

I've found the Atkins shakes are tolerable for me as they have no soy. However, the downfall with At,ins is they only have 15 grams of Protein. I would like to have more. I think I might checkout the Isopure drinks. Worth a try I guess.

I saw a recipe on Pinterest where you use a Starbucks Iced coffee mix packet, whey Protein scoop and some chocolate powder. Sounded good but I haven't tried it. Although I did buy Chike (not click, I have that too!) and it's a vanilla latte with two shots of expresso! Yummy! I made it with almond milk. 20g of protein!

I called my Dr and it slim time or ensure with Protein no other options so I will make the best of it , the Starbucks is a good idea though

My nut has me starting my preop today. shakes I was told to use are the EAS shakes. I have had them before in the past and I remember they are tolerable. Any better suggestions. Are the premier ones comparable in Protein and calories? BTW if you live near a Publix the EAS ones are on sale this week

The Premier Protein shakes (I find them at Kroger) in chocolate are good compared to most others and they are 160 calories, 30 grams Protein, 3 grams fat, 5 grams carbs (1 gram sugar). I also tried the Ensure high protein. For me, they had a yucky metallic aftertaste.

I tried the Unjury chocolate splendor this morning and by itself it was okay and tolerable but then I Added a tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder from trader joes And it was pretty good. Tomorrow I am going to try the vanilla and will let you know my thoughts. :-)

I am currently drinking the Premier Protein frosty chocolate and vanilla and they are so nasty! I had to drink them because I didn't get anything else before I started my preop diet but I just got my tub of Isopure unflavored powder in the mail today so I'm about to go to the store to get some frozen berries to mix it with! I'm also allowed sugar free pudding so I thought cheesecake or vanilla pudding would be good with it.

Was it the Premier powder you tried? What a shame! The Premier pre-mixed shakes are not bad--I have not tried the powder. Do try the pudding and a bit of fruit with it to see if that helps. Otherwise, try another brand. You will have trouble sticking to the diet if it makes you sick.

No it was the premixed ones lol I guess we all have different taste buds! I tried my unflavored Isopure powder and it's MUCH better! I mixed it with frozen strawberries, peaches, and spinach and it's really good!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
