I just reread Gone Girl. Looooove that book. Just finished Sycamore Road. It was a good read. The Stand is a kickass King book. If you haven't yet, I suggest 11/22/63 by King.

I LOVED 11/22/63. I haven't read any of his books because I can't do he whole horror genre, but that book was amazing.

11/23/63 was incredible. I was beside myself.

In fact afterward I went and read the book Case Closed by Gerald Posner which is the nonfiction book that King cites as having been his primary source for the historical info regarding Oswald in the months and years leading up to the assassination.

Highly recommend both books!

A great book but very long!

Under the Dome is good. Not horror. More a book on human nature.

I am currently reading Stephen Kings "Doctor Sleep". Before that it was Stephen Kings "Under the Dome". I am a HUGE Stephen King fan

I just finished Doctor sleep, and The Shining right before that. Did you read 11/22/63? My personal favorite.

Here are some fiction books I have been reading in the last 2 months or so:

Dan brown - Inferno (I like them all)

John grisham - Sicamore row (next read)

Gilligan Flynn - Gone girl (current)

Richard Preston - the cobra event (similar to the hot zone)

David baldacci- first family

Stephen king - the stand (oldie, but writing is excellent)

When I am looking for something to read, I like to get on the kindle store and look at what is "popular," but being careful to avoid the mommy porn which always ends up near the top of the list. If I am unfamiliar with the author, but it still sounds intriguing, I will first download the sample.

I also like Stephen Frey and Joseph finder; these are mainly wall street, litigation and corporate based fictions. Page turners for me, but you have to be into those genres.

I also read some non fiction mostly related to fitness ( cross fit auto biographies for example), but these will be fairly boring to most.

I am not into fantasy or sci fi genres. Will not go near the vampire stuff and do not understand the trending towards them in last few months. Hopefully it is a fad to end soon.

"Sycamore Row" - I saw this the other night and read the synopses, and it looked too similar to another one of his I recently read, "The Testament," so I'll pass. The Testament was good though.

Baldacci: A recent discovery of mine. I like him better than Lee Child, but if you like Baldacci, check out Vince Flynn. I didn't want to like him just because of his name, but the first 2-3 books in the Mitch Rapp series were very good.

King: I'm a long time fan. Just finished "Doctor sleep." "11/22/63" was awesome!

"Gone Girl" - I really liked this one too. I have G. Flynn's previous book in my wish list, but haven't gotten to it yet.

One you haven't touched that I recently read and really liked is "Brilliance" by Marcus Sakey.

I found Gone Girl quite intriguing. I read Dark Places after that, hoping to find it equally good, and I don't know, it just seemed like murder and mayhem and unhappiness just to make a story out of it. Not sure if I'll read any more of her stuff or not.

Dark Places was her first novel. Maybe she got better and the next one will be on par with Gone Girl.

That's because it's not horror, it's more "historical fiction."

I'm with you... it's the only book I've read where I almost literally couldn't put it down. I've always heard that phrase, but never truly experienced it.

Joyland is supposed to be really, really good too, but now that I have my Kindle, I have an aversion to physical books. I might have to go Audible on this one and listen to it during my 51 mile commute.

Baldacci better than lee child? Gasp! Heresy!

Don't get me wrong. I like Lee Child; I've read Killing Floor, 61 hours and The Affair, but I have two basic problems: 1) I don't really connect with Jack Reacher; he seems flat to me somehow, and 2) (and this is my biggest problem) All three stories were basically the same: Reacher drifts in, assists the small-town local sheriff, who just happens to be an attractive single woman, twist, Reacher & said sheriff are attracted to each other, turn, kiss, solve the case, then Reacher and Sheriff separate, never to see each other again. As soon as the sheriff enters the story, half the synopsis becomes predictable.
