I went for my first fill today, originally they told me I had 3cc in my band but today they said I only had 2. It was an interesting experience because I was thinking it was only going to be me and the nurse in her office and I would be in and out, but it was a little more extensive then that, my surgeon was there along with the X-ray tech and the nurse, they made me drink contrast and then they filled it with 4cc so I'm up to 6cc. I'm a little confused about that cause my surgeon originally told me that they would only put 2 the first fill. So I am really hoping I feel a lot of restriction cause I felt nothing before and I don't go back for my second fill till Aug. 26 ???’. I just thought I would share.

Was the contrast really bad? I get my first fill on the 19th of June. I'm excited but concerned about how bad it taste. Also I don't know how aggressive he is about fills. So will just have to wait and see. Wish you the best of luck with yours.

The contrast tastes like chalk, but you only have to sip a tiny bit!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
