A New Day

progress today, able to lift my leg up on bed with using a belt to assist, yay!!! The little things in life. I'm very tired, even with Percocet I only sleep 30 mins to 1 hr during the night. Only had a 30min nap yesterday after, so it isn't b/c I'm sleeping too much. The least amount of pain keeps me up.

Just got comfy in my bed, heating pad on my thigh and butt and now I have to pee and I have nothing to drink to take rx. I'm screwed!

Hope everyone is having a good day! I am enjoying reading your post, even if I do not reply. I'll have my wits about me soon, maybe...

Janet,

Turnabout is fair play...you will have your wonderful opportunity to wait on Ange in just a few short weeks! Awwwww, she looks so cute and so pregnant! I'm so happy for you to have daughters you are so close to!

I hope you got your situation in bed all figured out...I laughed about your plight, and at least you have a great sense of humor about it all!

I am thrilled to read of your progress! WTG!

Good Afternoon All...

Well, I overslept because the alarm never went off. I guess I'm going to have to look online for an owner's manual so that Jack can get the directions again...amazing what simple things we can forget in such a short amount of time!

Dee, so happy you did not freeze at the game...you have little insulation left to ward off feeling cold now! Your boys read like they are great players...I hope they never have injuries. That part would scare me the most...

Diane, would love to see a picture of your new hair style...it looked like you had a good time with your mother over the weekend. I hope the medication is helping you cope with feeling overwhelmed.

Dawn, so happy to read that you enjoyed your trip, and that you returned home safely. It must be difficult to,leave there to return to IL. How are your college girls? Have you been riding your bike lately?

Terri, I hope you are feeling better after your stuck episode. I hated those...and almost done with your medications. Life is good! I believe I have Nicole's address. Let me know if you want me to send it to you.

Michelle, good luck with your studies...you are on the glide path now and will do fine!

Physical therapy is going well, but I may have to have an additional surgery to correct some issues with scar tissue and the tendon. If it is optional, I will pass. I am able to walk for miles without pain, just one of my toes seems disconnected from the rest.

I could not resist, and purchased some bronze mums to Celebrate Fall...they come in so many colors. It was difficult to choose. Next year I will be more focused on the outside of the house.

Only 2 more days until countertops! It is so true...the small and basic things do mean to most to me!

I treasure each of you along this journey...at different places, but we all understand.

Group hugs!

Your daughter looks beautifully pregnant...what a exciting time...and like Carol said...a few short weeks tables will be turned....so proud of you...

I went for my GI and the tech that took it said with out Fluid in my band he couldn't tell to good about how big or small the pouch was soposta be...he did think it looks a lil he wasn't sure how to word it...he said a slip usually is the bulk of the stomach comes above the band....he thought if anything.. mine looked like there wasn't much of a pouch....I see the surgeon tomarrow...so we will see....

Dee, sorry if you shared CJ's story before. I can barely remember my name sometimes (sad, but true). It's a running "joke" in my family that I can go see movies over without knowing I saw them, hear/tell stories over, etc. That is heartbreaking yet sweet how all of your boys came to be with you. You really have a heart of gold ~ PLATINUM actually. Keep us posted on your surgeon visit. Hope you can get your fill back. I know without mine, and being able to eat like it wasn't there most days, it's been a struggle. I do have some Fluid in it but not like I did when I felt I was in the "green zone".

Terri, I hope you are enjoying your day making me that quilt for my new place, etc. HAHA. Seriously, it's such a beautiful time of year and I hope you have been out enjoying it today.

Janet, Ange looks adorable. I am sure she is happy to help Mom out and so true that soon, the tables will be turned. When is her c-section scheduled again (sorry, memory thing again)? Sorry to hear this knee isn't quite as seamless as the first. I know you are a trooper though and will power through it. Remember, be nice to PT or your life will REALLY be miserable. ;-)

Carole, can't wait until you have your kitchen. Is that all you are waiting for so it is functional again? My trip went well and it is hard coming back to my "empty" house. I so enjoyed just being with Brad, even doing yard work and simple everyday things. It was so cute that I could really tell how much it meant to him that I surprised him. Sunday morning before I left, he had a box sitting by my Breakfast. It was a pair of earrings he got at a craft show a couple weeks earlier for me. He knows I love jewelry and esp unique items. He will tell me on the phone sometimes, that "he loves me more than the moon and the stars". The earrings he got me were hand painted ceramic ones of a moon and a star. I know, we're corny like that. :) I haven't been back to bikeriding but intend to do so this week. I have been working too late and it gets dark so early.

Michelle, I wish you all the best for your week of hitting the books and getting it done!! Your strength and determination is second to none! It's really inspiring from my "big sis". You are also a great example to your children of what is possible when you are determined and driven.

Di, great pics of you and Mama. It's so nice to see you making the most of the moments that you can with your mom and getting her out to enjoy things, as able. :)

Michelle, welcome back. Sorry to hear about your FIL and your inlaws. I am glad that hasn't kept you from taking care of you in the process.

Welcome back Nicole, we missed you and so sorry for all your family has gone through. Death of a parent is hard, no matter how we try to prepare ourselves we are really never prepared. So glad you have been doing well with your band and staying focused. Know we are always here for you. Cyber hugs!

Carole, you know when you retire you are suppose to toss the alarms and just let the world happen. Take some lessons from Terri, I think her and Franc have figured out this retirement thing and travel.

I want you to know I think of you and Seth often. Everytime I hear a war time discussion , I think of what your son and so many others are doing for our country. You and Jack must fell so much pride in your children. :)

I hear your voice of reason often, sometimes I am stubborn and have to learn the hard way but I so appreciate you not giving up on me.

Terri, I know you are struggling with this fill but you can do this. Stick to liquids a little longer and do some shakes to starve off the hunger. It is hard but you can do this. Try some cream Soups and really thin mashed potatos, some yogurt or Jello. Allow all the swelling to subside. But most of all drink the Protein Shakes. You need the additional Protein.< /p>

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
