Strange Question about Breath

Recommended Posts

Ever since I was banded on 5/14/13, I have had bad breath. I can brush my teeth and use mouth wash but always have a bad taste in my mouth. I really think at times my breath could kill someone. YIKES! Anyone else experienced this?

If you eating high Protein and very low carbs you body could be in ketosis which does cause bad breath. Try increasing your healthy carbs.

Oh my god, I was terrified of asking that question. I am going through the same thing and couldn't figure it out. Thanks for being the one who asked.

Ketosis is the process where the body is metabolizing body fat to use on our sugar levels. So in other words bad breath can be because you are using fat or losing weight.

My doc said drinking the Water helps to flush all that out your body, and is suppose to help with that.

Today, I really upped my Water intake and I dont feel like my breath is as bad. The taste in my mouth has also decreased.

My coworker has the most horrific breath imaginable. I can even smell it from across the desk throughout the day

Finally I got the courage to mention something to her and she responded "yep! I know I'm so excited because this means im losing weight" (mind you I almost keeled over and died from the smell as she said it).

She was proud like a peacock! You should be too!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
