Am i eating/drinking enough??

Recommended Posts

Hello I had my surgery 2 days ago and I'm having roughly 2 cups of tea a day, plenty of squash, and milk.. But I'm only having like 1 small yogurt and a small portion of Soup? ? Is that enough?? I'm hating this gas pain it's really getting me down!! Any tips on how to get rid? Also can I eat soup and drink straight away cuz it's fluids or do I have to count soup as food and wait 45 mins?? Thanks xxxx

stick to Protein Shakes, teas and Water track everything.. you don't want to get dehydrated it's really bad. This is a time for healing don't worry about weight loss here get EAS makes a 40 gr Protein Shake and they are good. take a stool softener and laxative and get things out of there and the gas will go. milk of magnesima works fast and no cramps..its all up hill from here

It's often very hard to get in enough fluids right after surgery. Because you're on liquids right now, you don't have to wait to drink. You're pretty much drinking everything anyway. When I was early on, I kept some Water with me so I could sip constantly.

As far as the gas pain, I'm going to assume you mean from the surgery itself. During the surgery they pump your abdominal cavity full of air to expand it and make it easier for them to move around. This is are isn't in your digestive tract so gas meds won't help it. Walking is the best way to help your body reabsorb it faster. Some people find a heating pad can help ease the discomfort, too.

Hang in there!

I concur with missy, walk, walk, walk. I think I was told to drink 1oz every 15mins, so that means sip, sip, sip.

You are still swollen from surgery, so it can be tough.

You'll start feeling better every day.

Good Luck!

Keep drinking the Water, broth and walk. I had my surgery on the 10th of may and I thought I was doing good and on the 14th was in the ER for dehydration, I felt like I had a brick on my chest. But they said I was not drinking enough, after spending 24 hours in the hospital I am feeling so much better. But also use sugar free popsicles they became my life line. Keep your head up it does get better.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
