Bingo, just got blessed. Great, surgery is Tuesday - it is, what it is. Like the others said, they are not operating down there. But you know, it's not fun to be groggy - flowing, and begging to get up so you don't have an accident. That's really all it is, the fear of the "accident" :) Maybe, I'll just get myself depends for a day - that ought to solve that ?

Being on your period isn't a problem. Make sure to wash well and 'tidy up' down there in case they need to do an in and out cath. Period blood is def. not the grossest thing nurses see. The doc won't see down there at all.

I didn't have any catheter with my surgery. I didn't know anyone did since its such a short procedure. I didn't have one with my gallbladder either.

I've had other surgeries while on my period and the doctors and nurses could care less! I even had an angiogram where they go into the artery in your groin O.o I had on the "sexy" gauze "just had a baby" panties the hospital supplied and a pad and since they were in "that" area they cut the one side away and did their thing :) no embarrassment all the female nurses know what's up and the doctors have seen worse :)

It's no big deal

I didn't need a catheter

And I asked the doc what he does in theory if a person has their period (thank god I didn't have mine! ) and basically they just put a giant pad underneath you/between your legs

No biggie !

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
