I have had my band a year and a half and I got the worst band pain on Saturday. The pain came all at once and it was in the general band area. It felt like when I used to have gall bladder attacks, back when I had a gall bladder. It started in my band area and then a horrible headache came. It lasted for about 30 minutes and then stopped and then I had a small stabbing pain that night when I went to bed in the same area. I have been eating horribly and drinking cokes (please no shoe throwing) and wonder if it was just some horrible heartburn incident. I haven't had heartburn since my surgery, BUT, I can tell it is still down there because when I eat it is like the valve opens while the food slips thru and that burning feeling comes up. I can only feel it when I eat, but this incident happened like 5 hours after Breakfast. I know I should go to the doc and have an endo, but I am lazy and cheap. ( I know,I will go!) Has anyone ever experienced something like this??

I can't say that I've had anything like this happen, but I would say at the very least to make sure you are munching on some antacids (while you wait to call your doctor... right??)

Hope you feel better!

Give your band a rest. Go on liquids (no cokes) :) Hopefully you stopped the coke when you started feeling bad?

Please call your Dr.!

I really hope you start to feel better!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
