How did you determine your goal?

Recommended Posts

What the topic says!

Did you go off of a pant / dress size?

A specific weight or BMI?

Or an ability goal point?

(to get off of meds / walk up stairs without breathing heavy / shop at a certain store)

Did some of us not have a goal in mind at all' date=' just to lose weight and do what we can?

I'm just curious how others came to their decision on goal setting...[/quote']

My question is; how much does the skin weigh when you have a Tummy Tuck? I have lost 46 lbs and I swear the skin must weigh 3-5 lbs.

My goal is to lose 100 pounds. Which will still put me at 20 pounds above a "normal" weight. But I have hypothyroidism, so I wanted to be realistic.

I picked 160. It technically still overweight but I can't picture myself there so I figured that would be a great long term goal.

In some senses I think I will look anorexic at 160 but that's a total Loss of 83 pounds and 35 pound lighter than I've ever been able to get myself even on appetite suppressants (I bounced between 193-197 for 8 months while on phentermine until my body grew immune)

My lowest weight (aside from birth) was 113. That was underweight for me. My highest was 225' date=' and I've lived everywhere in between.

My goal is one that I can live with; not starve myself & not be a slave to it. That number (for me) is 150. I'll see how I feel when I get there, but I'm pretty darn sure it's going to be GREAT!!! For my age and frame, it's a realistic goal.[/quote']

How tall are you?

During high school and college, I wore a size 12. When I started this journey, I hoped to get back to size 12. I am comfortably in size 8's and some size 6's! According to the BMI charts, I am still "overweight", but I am thrilled. I'd like to lose another 10 lbs, but if I don't, I am still thrilled with my results.

I determined mine by my "healthy" BMI weight

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
