My port incision is pretty high, about 3 or 4 inches from my bra, to the left side. But when I got my fill, my port was about 3 inches below the incision. I don't notice it, yet at least! :D

Mine is several inches to the left and above my navel. My surgeon never even mentioned the issue of port placement. I'm pretty sure he puts all of them near the navel. I can't feel my port, and don't have any problems with it. :D

If I had the option to pick, I probably would have asked for a sternum port because they seem to be less likely to move or become uncomfortable as you lose weight. However, I also know of many people who are happy with their abdomen ports, so I don't feel there is a really dramatic difference between the two locations. I just trusted my surgeon's judgement and so far so good. :(

Mine is currently in my waist line area.

It has flipped and I think most of us that have experienced this have our ports in this same location.

My surgeon gave me a choice and because of my bra he suggested this area instead of the sternum.

But now that my port has flipped he wants to move it to my sternum area. I am still trying to decide what to do, cause I don't want yet another wound to have to deal with healing. If we just repair my port where it is theres a chance it will flip again.

Anyway alot of people like the sternum port location it's easier for some to locate for fills and they don't move!

Oh yeah and there is a lady on spotlight (can't think of her name right now) that has her port located in her left upper breast/chest area where they place pace makers. She loves it there.

Hi all,

my port is (I think) in the center of my chest, just below the sternum.

If it means anything: on the day of my surgery, there were 4 women and 1 man. All the women had sternum placements and the man had abdomen...on the left side around waistline.

I "think" it has to do with fatty areas/differences between women/men.......

My port is positioned about 6 inches under my left breast. It is right where my waist band rides right now which was a little tender after surgery. It does not bother me at all now. I am amazed how close to the skin it is. My Dr. purposly positioned it at an angle saying it was easier to fill that way. I can tell exactly the shape and position it is in. I guess that is good because I will know if it moves.

How on earth does it move? One more thing to worry about? Has anyone else ever had this happen?

My port is directly under my right breast about 1 inch below my bra line.

It is very easy to feel the entire thing. My surgeon told me that when he put it in, he put it below my incision. When I lay down it does feel lower, but if I stand up it moves up. I bet it will be easy to fill (next week is my first fill) as it is right below the skin line.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
