This book is a great tool. I picked it up at Barnes and noble last week. I make it for my whole family. So far they've liked everything. On each recipe there is a recommendation for whatever stage you are currently in. Tonight I had chicken sauté with mushrooms. Puréed of course. Yum!!

I am too at a stall with weight loss, but I have lost inches. I don't get my first fill till 07/24, so I am not too worried about it. I have remained at 188 for over a week. Patience is a virtue:)

Today is my first day of mushy food. For dinner I fixed 1/2 cup of refried Beans and 1/2 cup of cottage cheese...and I couldn't finish it! Wow!!! I love this :-)

It's amazing to eat so little and be satisfied. Whole new experience to me too. Hope you're as thrilled about it as I am. :)

Did you have anything put in your band at the tie of surgery?

I asked my doc that on my post op visit. He said there is just a bit of Fluid in there, but nothing significant.

Glad to hear everyone is doing so well. I am sorry i have been MIA, my first week back at work was crazy. I am doing great, still on full liquids, can start "soft" foods at the end of this week - I think I will choose Thursday :). I saw my surgeon this past Wednesday and he was very pleased with my progress, I am as well. I am out of pain for the most part, I do feel a little pinch once in a while and my back hurts - but other than that I am back to normal. I do not go back until the 30th of July and he will give me my first fill. He warned me that somewhere in weeks 4-6 that i will feel like I never had surgery and will be hungry and able to eat more than i have been, but assured me it is temporary and for me to push through it. As all of you I am ready to "chew" - by the time I can have soft foods it will have been 5 weeks since I have anything but liquids... wooeeee - I cannot believe i have made it.

Had my first real hard day today. We had friends over for lunch and then had a crazy afternoon and ended up ordering pizza for kids and husband. pizza is my all time favorite. I had Protein drinks and Soup. I just stress-ate some sugar free Jello. Ugh. First time I wished I could just forget everything and eat. But, I guess that's what got me "here" in the first place, eh? Feeling pretty low today, I guess.

I had a party for my brother and all anyone could talk about was how good the cake was..I wanted to scream LOL...but when i look at myself in the mirror and see how much differently I look now then a couple of months ago, not eating the cake was a good thing...Just keep in mind your goal....you'll be fine :)

Checking in- I have been Mia:( had surgery on June 13 and had my first fill today. My band was placed empty and she put 1.4cc in it. I have lost 16.8 pounds. I was hoping for more altogether but am reminding myself that I could not have lost this much in a month by myself:)

How are all the Junies doing?

Im a little over 1 month post surgery. I cant explain how much better I feel now!! To be honest I was in more pain than I expected. It took me almost 3 1/2 weeks to feel normal again. I had my first fill this morning. The dr put in 3.25cc's. It's so amazing how all of our Dr's are different. He didn't use fluoroscope. It really didn't hurt at all! He numbed me, felt around for the port, put the needle in, filled it, sat me up with the needle still in, drank Water, he added more saline, I felt shoulder pain, he removed some saline and now I'm sipping Soup. Liquids for one day, soft food for one day then solids if all is tolerated. I was nervous for nothing! I've lost 25lbs since surgery! He said I have no restriction so I basically did it on my own. I find that hard to believe because I definitely felt some sort of restriction...plus nothing but liquids in the beginning helped.

I hope everyone is doing well!! Don't forget to update us. We are all in this together!

16.8 lbs is awesome!!

I've lost 11 since being banded on the 13th (23 total). I go for my first fill on the 26th, and I can't wait! It's too easy to eat too much right now :-/ Congratulations to everyone! It sounds like we're all right on track. We need to make sure we keep checking in at least every couple weeks.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
