I'm a huge Zumba fan and I do it 5 to 6 times a week, but I'm noticing the more I workout the less the scale is moving. Any one have any suggestions?

I would suggest measuring your self. You may be gaining muscle that is why the scale isn't moving

Hi Beach

Congrats on your dedication to working out! Zumba is fun cardio and an excellent way to meet healthy people.

Assuming that your calorie intake is appropriate to achieve your goals then I can def tell you what's going on. Your body is adjusting "adapting to imposed demands" a rule of human physiology. Therefore, it's important to vary your workouts to keep your body "adapting"... in this case losing weight, becoming more lean. I would keep Zumba but trade out some days doing some other exercises. A combination of cardio and resistance training WILL give you the results you seek and DESERVE!! You are putting in the "work" so you should get the results - it's a matter of tweaking your routine, in essence working smarter not harder.

I am glad to give you more specifics if you would like them - just let me know.

Hope in Your Future is Power in Your Present!

Thanks LJCBF, yes my calorie intake is 900 which is recommended by my dr. I'm open to any suggestions you may have. I'm going to the beach in August so I've been working really hard. I'm starting to get discouraged because of the scale. Maybe I should drop down to 3 days Zumba and 3 days of walking. Crossfit is becoming very popular in my area, but I believe I'm not ready for that.

Plateaus can occur with or without exercising.

Could be on one.

But don't stop, your scale may have halted but think of the benefits to your heart!!!

Way to go.

Hi Beach... Going to the beach in Aug? Awesome! 900 cal seems extremely low but I'm am not going to stick my nose in on that, if that's what your Doc recommends.

A few questions so I can give you the best recommendations:

1- How many days are you exercising (Zumba) a week now and what time of day do you do it? Is this a live class or a video ?

2- At what pace do you walk and how far?

3- Are you at the stage yet where you can run?

4- Do you have or use a heart rate monitor?

5- Do you have previous experience or knowledge around doing exercises such as Squats, lunges, push-ups ? And/or resistance training like using a band or small weights etc...?

6- Have you been cleared by Doc to exercise ?

7- Do you have any specific physical limitations or injuries that I should know about?

If you would rather private message me to keep your info from the general forum, please do so.

** Regarding CrossFit - while it's a very good program "brand" and popular, in general I don't recommend it. However, Cross Training (diff than CrossFit) as a concept is HIGHLY recommended. While CrossFit tends to focus on "timed" exercises and getting a lot of reps completed in the allotted time. Typically this leads to poor form which often leads to injury, especially with people relatively new to "working out". On the other hand "Cross Training" should include Slow movement - good form, will reap the rewards you want and safely. Additionally, having a Cross Training regiment specifically designed for YOU and your needs is far more effective than using the generic WOD (workout if the day) that the CrossFit model employs.

Thanks and looking forward to helping : )

i change my routine up every week, that way i keep my body guessing. i do body combat, body pump, aqua intervals, Zumba, trx, and a strength balance/flexibility class at my gym. keep your body guessing and you will see the results and them as you become more advanced shake up the weights too.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
