it took 3 for me a total of 6.5 cc in a 10 cc band. some doctor do it very slow so its not so much how many fill but how much the fill is. Do you know how much you have in now and the size of the band?

I had a B12 deficiency that showed up about 1 1/2 years post banding. Get your shots! It took about six months of weekly, then biweekly shots before my levels returned to normal. I still get them once monthly to keep my levels up.

They do make me feel much more energized.

Before the shots, were you taking sublingual B12? They told us to take it, and I'm wondering how effective it is. I've had an energy and brain power problem since the surgery, and I really need to get back to normal! But I don't think a B12 deficiency would show up 5 weeks post-op??

I didn't start taking B12 until I started having weird, stroke like symptoms and micronutrient testing showed how deficient I really was. I always took my regular "band-specific" Vitamins like I was told to, but I really wasn't aware that bandsters could have Vitamin deficiencies.

It took almost nine months to figure it out, but I didn't start having issues until 1 1/2 years after surgery.

It's really unlikely that you have a deficiency so quickly after surgery. You probably feel energy and brain drain because you are taking in less calories than you're used to.

Good luck and keep getting those shots!!!!

What about Hair loss?

Goes to show I need to search before I post because I was just told I'm B12 deficient today by my primary doc. I went in for my normal CBC check up (blood test) and the results today showed low B12. I now have to have the weekly shots. I had no clue but my doc says many get b12 from breads and cereals enriched with victims. Since I've cut that all out I guess it's affected it.

I know nothing about taking the shots and wonder will it make me hungrier? Should I see an energy surge from taken one shot or after several.

Love to hear what all y'all say!

Hears to hoping B12 shots will help us along!!

B12 shots won't affect your appetite at all. They may take from a few weeks to a month to accumulate enough before you notice that your energy level is increased. Just like it takes months to become deficient, it takes months to get everything back to normal.

In my case, I was really low in B12 and multiple other Vitamins and minerals so it took a little longer for me to start feeling better. I take all of my Vitamins religiously now though! I sure don't want to head back down that road.

What about Hair loss?

B12 doesn't impact hair, but lots of people on here swear by Biotin. I never had hair loss, even when my deficiencies were at their worst so I've never felt the need to take it.

Have been on the shots for almost 2 years. Way before my band they found it. I do not have the enzyme in my system to process the B12 out of food. It is definitely a hereditary condition in my case. I know when it times for a shot as I get sluggish.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
