Walking around helps me, and some hot tea maybe. Don't try to force it down with Water, usually makes it worse for me. I had an episode yesterday in the car of all places. Ugh...hang in there!

I agree with sticking to liquids for a day or two and it will (ideally) pass. Just sip them as able since you are nauseated and some warm tea may help w/ the stomach and nausea. Hang in there.

Thank you all for replying, going to fix me some hot tea right now, also thanks for not judging me about getting stuck, I know that I have to do better on chosing the right food, eating smaller bites, & chewing more

It happens to everyone : ) Stand up - walk around - move your arms above your head / when you sit try to sit upright as much as possible. Don't eat anything and limit fluids as much as you can.

Good luck

Warm liquids may make your stomach feel better and help with the nausea, but if you're stomach lining is inflamed from a stuck episode, cold/icy Water should help reduce swelling. The stomach is a muscle and when you sprain an ankle or get a bruise, ice is what the doctor recommends.

I agree with tmf. Everyone always recommends warm liquids but if you are truly stuck they won't go down. The crushed ice helps to reduce the swelling. Read this article by Helen who is an extremely well respected weight loss nutritionist.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
