Recommended Posts

I have a wonderful husband but today he had subway for lunch. We are the owners of our own business. We work together he brought back subway and now my office smells of subway. Today is the first day he did this not thinking. Bless him but if he does this again I may Kill him with kindness!! LOL I just needed to get this out!!

I came home from work on Monday to the sweet smell of freshly baked brownies. My daughter had made them for she and her friends. This was the Monday before my surgery.....day 5 of my pre-op diet. She apologized about making them this week, she didn't think about it until I said something. But then I realized that I am going to have to deal with this for the rest of my life.....she is just testing me early :)

One thing that you'll develop is a very very keen sense of smell. Gives you an idea how our ancestors, the wild men of old, would hunt and gather food. I can smell EVERYTHING. Banders make the best hunters.

LOL... My hubby did great till my second week on post op liquids I would go hide in the bed room while him and my daughter ate... well I guess he started missing dinner with me so he started coming in the bedroom with his plate of food... i took it 2 days by the 3rd I was like DUDE you are killing me I am in here hiding from the food I dont want to see it, smell it ,hear it cooking, see it being eaten... I am staving here... He blushed and has not eaten in there since I think it just had not dawned on him what he was doing....lol Now that I am on mushies its easier bc at least I have food in front of me when they eat and we can all sit together :)

I also noticed how good food smelled while I was on my 10 day pre-op diet. It's like my sense of smell was incredibly keen!

I always asked my coworkers and friends to tell me what they ate after their meal. I don't know why it mattered but I was very curious! I was like "indulge me because I can't have food!"

I absolutely LOVE popcorn, and most always get it when we go to the movies. My husband doesn't necessarily love it, but he eats it along with me. NOW - low & behold, we've been to the movies about 2-3 times since my surgery on 3/25, and every time he gets fricken popcorn! As he sits down with the bag and a diet coke, he asks if it will bother me. I just said, no. I figure, just because I'm on lock down, doesn't mean that he can't enjoy popcorn at the movies. Some day (I guess), I'll be able to have a little bit again. But I was just surprised when he sat down with it the first time, because he doesn't necessarily like it. Whatever! He's been VERY supportive through this entire venture, so I can't really say that he's testing me B)

I almost did kill mine when he baked muffins when i was in the liquid stage of my post op. I think if I had I could have got off on the grounds of justifiable homicide.

This thread reminds me of my hubby's Lapband Party Foul. We were on our way to my surgery and he brings a banana with him for Breakfast. He didn't eat it in the car like I thought he would. When we got out into the parking lot I asked him where he was going to eat that. He said, while we are waiting. I said, "You do realize that you are walking into a waiting room full of half starved fat people who have been on a liquid diet for 2 weeks?" "Do you think you'll be safe?". He ate it right there. We laugh about it all the time now.

I am reading this and thinking of what I am going through right now. Banded 4/24, and I am sooo hungry. And mom was downstairs today making food that smell like the heavens, and here I was, eating this nasty chicken flavored Soup. Then in FB today two of my friends have been tagging me on food pics that I like. And one of my best friends calls me yesterday to translate her call...to the chinese restaurant, where she pretty much reviewed the whole menu. Then message me today to tell me she made a cake. I almost, just almost kill her. And there they are, my family that I love oh so much, making dinner. And here I am, just dying for a piece.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
