Pre op diet food? Help! Need ideas

Recommended Posts

May 7th is my day but I found out today a few days into my pre op diet that they gave me they wrong info because I'm suppose to have about 4 oz of food at my one meal but they told me 4oz chicken/fish/lean beef, 1cup vegetable and 1 cup fruit...which is far too much for me too eat to begin with.

Now I need help on figuring out meals for the one meal a day I'm allowed before 48 hours before my banding on May 7th

Beyond nervous that I've messed up this whole process.

I'm self pay in Houston doing the hiatal hernia- banding program.

Thank you

Every Dr. Has different orders for pre and post op diet. Understandably, you are nervous. I think your best choice would be to contact the doctors office, and get your diet information in writing. Do you have an e mail contact? You will probably want to reference back to the diet plan occasionally anyway, and having it in writing will help you. Good luck!

My date is May 7th too :) My preop lets me have 4 oz of meat, 2 servings of vegetables, 2 servings of starch, and a serving of fruit along with 2 protien shakes a ay and a protien bar, unlimited SF popsicles, Jello and broth. I would recheck to make sure you're understanding correctly- did they give you anything in writing? My Dr sent me a preop diet in writing to make sure I understood.

My first doctor (I switched this week after issues with the first) gave me the written one saying 4oz meat 1cup fruit& veggies but I had preop this morning and this doctor said to split it into two meals to make it more realistic and gave me a plan that just went over Protein requirements...

I'm new to the whole idea of Protein drinks as well...so far I have found one that's decent and a few that are horrid lol

I will call in the morning to recheck I just feel like I'm messing it up :/

No- I'm in South Carolina. I actually break my meal up too. My Dr. said it really doesn't matter as long as I make sure I get in my protien drinks and protien bar. I have been using Muscle Milk for my shakes with unsweetened vanilla almond milk- they are OK with that. I have to do Water the week after surgery and I don't like them with water- but I can do it for a little while.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
