HELP!!! I was banded on the 19th. Procedure was done around 5:45 that fri evening. I have not eaten since Thursday the 18th. I've done good so far. Gas pain a lot better. Actually went to gym this morning(tues) and walked a mile very slowly. All was well doing Protein Drinks and liquids until I decided to make a puréed Soup today. I drank probably 5-6 oz and I drank about 3oz of apple juice and Water over a period of 3 hrs. Anyway, I'm miserable! Feels like something is stuck I'm my throat and my stomach is a constant rumble. I took nausea pill and Gasx and NO relief yet. My stomach is actually sore. I can't even imagine drinking h2o. I even keep burping. Anybody had this or similar?...please help me!!!...sistercin

did the dr okay you to move to pureed so soon as surgery?

the insides are swollen and sore from just having major surgery.

if you are in pain or scared, call your dr and let them advise you.

I was chatting with someone the other day and they started her on pureed at the hospital after sugery. I have never heard of that before but hopefully the doctors know what they are doing.

exactly what was your process when eating? Did you eat, wait 30 min. then drink your juice? Are did you eat and drink at the same time?

I was banded the same day and haven't been able to consume more than 3 oz of purée Protein at a time as I eat it extremely slow as if it were real food and nothing to drink for 90 Mounties after or 30 minutes before..... Seems like too much you're still healing.

I agree. The thing I find strange is how it's not set across the board. Makes me very happy to have the team I have!! Very clear concise instructions on what to eat when and how.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
