I told my immediate family and a couple close friends- they are my support and they keep me focused when I THINK I want to eat something thats not the best choice. (I'm pre-op and will be banded on Monday!)

I really admire everyone who has shared with others. I was banded in November' date=' have lost 100lbs incredibly fast, and the only people who know about my band are my parents because they paid for it. I'm just a really private person when it comes to my battle with weight issues, I didn't want to hear any negative feed back from anyone because I am the kind of person who would become discouraged by it. Congrats on your journey :)[/quote']

What do you say to people when they ask what you are doing to lose weight? I know I will run into times that I will see people that I havent seem in a while and I don't know what my response will me then... ?

I just explain that I'm eating way smaller portions, eat more often and I work out 5x a week. Which is the true. The band only curbs our hunger, we still control what we put into our body's.. If I wanted to eat around it I totally could. I didn't want people to judge me for my band, or take any of the credit away. I worked hard for my body to get to this point, and it hasn't been easy. To be honest tho, no one has really 'grilled' me on it :)

I've lost 15lbs on the Pre-op shake diet. No one even questions why I'm drinking shakes. If they ask I tell them it's to kick-start my weight loss. Everyone that knows me has seen me gain and lose so many times in the past that it's no surprise I'm dieting again. Last week we joined a gym as a family. My husband, 3 children and I all go together. That's the best decision I made in a long time.

I have been telling all co-workers I usually travel with. Reason: they know how I (used to) eat and this kind of change cannot possibly go unnoticed. I told them in effect "the party is over" and have gotten back very positive feed-back. My family knows, ironically the feedback there was a bit more mixed...not because they consider it "the easy way out" but because they are worried about any complications. I would imagine once the surgery actually happens (hopefully without any issues) they'll be more excited for me...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
