JoyceGA introduction

Recommended Posts

I am just starting the WLS journey. I've already lost 41 lbs from my high of 450, and have 82 to go for the surgery. My target weight is 165, but by increasing exercise, I hope to get back to my college weight of 125.

Why do I call my LapBandTalk journal "When Pigs Fly", well, I've called my kitchen "When Pigs Fly Kitchen" for years and even decorate with flying pigs, because I hate to cook. I used to cook as often as pigs flying.

However, getting ready for WLS, I am learning to make healthy smoothies, cook light, and drink Water. I am thinking about food more than I ever had, AND the pounds are coming off!!

I also have profiles on ObesityHelp and MySpace, but I found the RNY post-ops railroading their procedure over the lapband clients. Plus, I couldn't find a lapband person to answer my question. Either they lurked and e-mailed me, but the lapband folk have been silenced.

Well, "nobody puts Baby in the corner!!" So, I can't wait to chat and learn HERE!!

This "pig" is going to fly as I achieve each goal.

You have definitely found the right place for support, advice and encouragement. There isn't a better site out there. You will love it.

When are you getting banded? I am tomorrow and can't wait.

By the way, "Dirty Dancing" is one of my alltime favorite movies, lol.

Welcome Joyce,

I have found this place to be very supportive and helpful in so many ways. A lot of times I don't have to ask the questions because someone has already started a thread and asked it for me.

You have accomplished a great task by losing 41lbs already so stay encourage, you are well on your way. This will be a piece of cake for you, just not literally (smile)!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
