Does getting a fill hurt

Recommended Posts

OK...I had my first feel yesterday and i was very nervous..so nervous in fact that i locked my keys in my car because i was so scattered!

Anyway, My doctor couldnt find the port with a small needle. The initial first stick was painless, but him trying to find the port was... They got a larger needle and it was over and painless once again..I am not trying to scare you..But i read this topic before i went and was expecting an in an out procedure with no pain. Just saying this could happen, but the doctor did say once i lost more weight, it would be not trouble finding the port and that wouldnt happen again. Good Luck!

Just had my first fill today. He literally said "quick prick" and I felt a stick a little like a steroid shot then nothing as he placed the Fluid in. Then he had me drink the barium Fluid to test my restriction. It was so cool to see the liquid hit the pouch then funnel through a small straw size opening. Crazy!!! And NOOOO hunger at all today. Just sipping Clear liquids for today and tomorrow before full liquids Sunday.

My doc does the fluoroscopy each time I get a fill. He said I should see a huge drop in weight over the next two months if I follow the rules. Soooo ready for a lighter healthier summer!!

Had an adjustment today, 6cc was too tight, I couldn't drink Water without extreme pain. The Dr took out 1cc, and I felt instantly better. Had no pain, just a quick prick.

Ladies I will tell you what I do when I go in for a fill and I'm a bigtime needle phobe! In my mind I step back and look at the big picture as to WHY I have to go through the needle stick and also it's one more fill getting me closer to my "sweet spot" which I think I just hit this past month. When you go in and lie down, close your eyes and go to your "zen" place...mine is sitting on the beach at night. If I close my eyes and concentrate I can hear the waves of the ocean...actually by the time I close my eyes and start thinking about the ocean, it's over! Try this, it works! I have had six fills and done great each time using this technique....

Am I the only one who gets fills standing up? For those of you who are worried you are way over thinking it. My doctor does not numb you and I barely feel it. Just don't watch and you will be fine.

I lay down and raise my legs off the table, which pushes my port closer to the surface. No pain at all.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
