Gone for Good Club - May 2006

Recommended Posts

I started my new Water routine today! I went out and bought a few gallons of Water last night, everyday I'll have a new one in the fridge. Already about half is gone for today. This is really helping me with getting in all my water, and seeing the gallon get emptier(word?) as the day goes on is a great visual for me. quote]

Emilee, I am getting the water down too but darnit, it's going right through me. I'm literally gagging. I'm soo full from the water I can't drink anything else, not even my shakes. :grouphug:

I haven't had a meal today, everytime I go to try and make a shake, my nose turns up and I wanna gag. (Sorry, TMI)

Water....I don't drink anything else, ever but damn, it's alot of water. I got one of those Arizona Green Tea 1 Gallon hard plastic containers (pretty) that Im using to fill up.

If this keeps up, I'll need a diaper.:paranoid

1 US gallon = 128 US Fluid ounces. You don't have to drink that much but..

According to this article I found, we should be drinking 64oz PLUS 8 oz for every 25 pounds of excess weight. So, for example, I weigh 244.5. That is about 100 pounds excess for me. So I should drink 64oz PLUS 32 oz more. (100/25=4 8oz x 4=32oz) That's 96 oz per day. So, I constantly have with me a 16.9oz bottle of Water. I would need to drink 6 bottles a day in order to get in my 96 ounces. I can almost always achieve 4 bottles per day, but 6 isn't so easy. I try dividing it up to 3 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon.

For those of you who haven't seen this article, have a look. It's quick reading and very enlightening!

I know I don't "need" a gallon...but when I have been able to get into the habit of drinking that much, I eat less, my skin looks better, and I usually feel better generally.

I'm sorry you guys. I don't want to complain anymore. I drink whatever I have to and do whatever is necessary to lose. If I need to wear a diaper to keep me from having a pee accident then I'll do it :grouphug:.

I'm just happy to be losing. No more complaints from me.

Thanks for beginning this challenge. You'll never know timely this is for me. I need support to complete this journey. I was soooo happy to find this group. I read through many of your postings yesterday before I joined and they truly hit home. I began this program in November with the full support of my primary and the total unsupport of my husband. He's coming around. I was 260 at that time, I was banded on 2/20/06 and went back to work the next week feeling fantastic. I was 239.5 at the time of my surgery. I am 227 today. I struggle with the small bites, and I need 5 or 6 oz of meat not 3oz. I did have my first fill, three weeks ago and I am not straving any longer. I love your "gone for good", it put this slow weight loss into prespective for me. I am also exercising at least 30 minutes a day now that I have a Tony Little Gazelle to use with no impact on my 2 knees.

Lucky you, Diane...you have no sagging inner thigh skin. I have it and HATE it. I exercise my inner thighs, to no avail. Ugh!

I am dragging my feet to join this club. I have been so unmotivated lately & don't know why. This morning I ate 2 bowls of Peanut Butter Captain Crunch for breakfast! Now there's healthy!! At the store I bought some chocolate licorice & I've eaten half the bag already. I haven't been to the gym in 3 weeks!! I am so off!!

But, there's always TOMORROW!! :grouphug: Somebody PLEASE kick my butt!!!!!!! I can't do this to myself anymore.

I am joining this club so I can be held accountable. AND I NEED IT!! Those legs are going to be firm & beautiful by the time this challenge is over. AND, I'll post pictures so the world can see. (Now, there's motivation!!!!!!)

Let's do it!!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
