I had surgery last friday 4/12. I have been feeling a little dizzy. On Tuesday my chest was hurting. I am still sore. (Some people I talked to was back to normal after 2 days). Anyone else have these experiences??

Honestly I get dizzy every time I am on liquids. If you are really worried you should call your doctor. Hope you feel better.

well it is major surgery and they cut you open and stuff so its gonna hurt...and if they did a hernia repair (as they did me) it hurts to take deep breaths......but it does get better as each day that passes..def agree with kathy about keeping your liquids up....sip and sip and sip some more.....but like hel, if you are dizzy or overly concerned, absolutely call your dr and let them know what is going on.....just hearing a nurse and or dr say (its gonna be okay) is a relief sometimes. hang in there.

Hmmm took me longer than a few days to feel normal again, more like a good month. I used to get the dizziness also and for a good three weeks it felt like an elephant sitting on my chest till ally swelling went down and I healed. All normal some heal quicker than others.

My hernia bothered me more the the band. My surgeon did both on the same day. Check with your doctor when in doubt. You' re still paying him for followups after surgery. Post op visits are usually covered for a time.

It took me more like 3 weeks to get halfway normal. Your body is healing from major surgery. It takes time.

Thanks everyone! Drinking more Water did help with dizziness . I have to just take it one day at a time.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
