Yet ANOTHER surgery!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Long post)

Recommended Posts

Robyn,

I guess I'm still confussed on the knick thing. Are we all at risk for the same type of knick? I don't think I've every been informed of ricks like that from the fill needle?

Also, I didn't think you should sue your doctor but I though he could make it "easier" for you on the cost of the surgery that wasn't your fault either. I just paid for my surgery on self-pay but then my insurance also paid so I'm getting a refund. The insurance only paid $800 for surgery that it cost reguarly people 17,000.

If an insurance company and negotiate discounts that deep surely you doctor can negotiate less then $13,000 for an expense you didn't elect.

Thanks guys for the prayers....they seemed to have helped. I talked to the office today, and they have made lots of calls and waived their cost and got the amount down from over $5,000 to $1800!! I'm slotted for Friday, May 12th. It's my 3rd surgery, so maybe this time is the charm (so they say). I'll let you know how it goes, and thanks for all the prayers and encouraging words. Love you guys!

Hi Guys!

Had my surgery to put my port back in this am. Everything went really well. I actually was able to drink Soup this pm without being in excrutiating pain. I had forgotten what it was like to actually eat without pain, nausea, and vomiting.

I'm pretty groggy from the pain meds right now, but wanted to let you all know it went well. Thanks for your prayers....now let's just pray that there is no port infection this time around.

Love you guys!

Robyn

oh no! I just posted on the 'other' thread - wishing you a well recovery.

So glad to find that you had already checked in.

Ok, so now you can take a deep breath and pick-up where you left off! What a wonderful reason to smile about! :biggrin1:

Heyas Robyn, I'm so glad to hear the surgery went without any problems. I'm believing that this time around there will be no infection. It's amazing what you've endured and the success you've had so far. Keep us posted!

Thanks for all the well wishes guys! You all are so great.... Just going to take it a day at a time, taking extra special care of the incisions. They are looking a little red to me already, but hopefully that is just due to swelling from the surgery. I'll check back in and let you guys know how it is going.

Robyn

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
