Yes, empty stomach works best....the fill is more accurate that way. I'd think 2 hours before with no eating should be good. I try to schedule my fill appointments first thing in the morning, so I can just wake up & go. Don't forget to drink Water, but not so much you are full!!! :) My doc also says liquids only for 24 hours after fills! God luck & congrats on your new journey! The Lapband is awesome!!!!

Never stopped me...as a matter of fact I'm sure to get something good to eat before because I know I will not be eating after the fill.....but then I have not had a fill in 2 years now so maybe my Dr. has started to give different instructions.....

My fill went perfectly!! Found out i have a large band, can hold 14 cc.

When i had surgery they put it in with 3cc, so on Wednesday they added 3 more. I ate 2 hours before, knowing liquid only for the next 24 hours. Today i feel good, i am most definatly eating less and not feeling hungary ALL the time :) Finally feel like me and my band are working together on the same page! It is nice to know that i can go in for another in as little as 2 weeks if i feel i need more restriction. The first 6 weeks after surgery before the first fill is alot more trying then i ever thought it would be. The last 2 weeks i was able to eat just as much as before surgery and it was so disappointing!! Thankful to be moving forward

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
