I'm just looking for some support. I only have my husband and his ear is probably full. I am supposed to be banded May 28th that's were all of my focus has been. Well, I had a mammogram a week ago and now they want to do an ultra sound. I'm concerned because along with weight issues breast cancer runs in the family. Plus, I've been on Enbrel, which can cause cancer. I'm scared that I could be positive for cancer, and that just ruins everything I've been trying to accomplish for myself. I've just started school, It was perfect timing for my lapband surgery because my portion was down to 1,300 because of a previous surgery. They were going to let me just put 300.00 down and payments on the rest. If I have to wait till next year my portion will be 3,000.00. Anyway, this just $%^$ off. I guess I'm just venting because I know there is nothing I can do about it, and I just have to take it one day at a time. But it is easier said than done. Thanks for listening and letting me get this off my chest.

I know this is so much easier said than done, but try not to get ahead of yourself. It's actually very common for woman to need further testing after mammograms. As we get older, we get fatty deposits in the breasts and benign cysts. My mom has had to have additional testing after every mammogram for the last decade because of fatty deposits. It's a lot more common than you think.

I will definitely keep you in my prayers.

It is perfectly normal to be nervous, but try not to get too worked up until you know something for sure. It only adds to stress and stress eating is what got a lot of us to where we need lap band surgery. Sending hugs and prayers your way. Feel free to vent here. It is free and could save your marriage! LOL!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
