How many weeks until first fill?

Recommended Posts

My 1 week post op appointment was just that...a post op follow up....check my incisions, look for infections, clearances for soaking, returning to work, exercising, etc....but fills were not even talked about.

Wow, my doc didn't want to see me for a few weeks. I went the Friday after the surgery, but that was just a post-op class. At the 4 week mark I'll see the nurse. They certainly all do it differently!

Yesterday' date=' my food day wasn't planned very well. I had to be at a client most of the day, and figured a Protein shake would cover me until dinner. By the time I got home I was famished! I ended up having close to 1200 calories for the day, which felt like a lot. Only being 18 days out, I like to keep the intake between 800-1000. But I had to REMIND myself that 1200 calories is still a weight loss number. I just didn't like the out of control feeling I had when eating. Like nothing was going to fill me up. Thank God for the plication![/quote']

I know the feeling. I had that feeling Mon/Tues/Wed this week, like I want food all day but not necessarily tummy growling hungry! Felt soooo out of control and really messed up. I can look back now and know it wasn't true hunger. I'm about 3 pounds up and am trying to refocus and listen to my body.

Trying not to get frustrated because it will get better since I'm just three weeks post op today. I'm focusing on small bites, Protein and only a cup at each meal. I can do this!

YES - we both can do it!! I think a big part of my issue yesterday, was not planning my food well. Letting too much time pass without eating something that will keep my blood sugar stable, is a setup for a binge. My binge last night was an extra cup of low fat cottage cheese. If this was "pre-band", that scenario would have been more like 1200 calories in one sitting :P

I'm guessing that every doctor is a little different' date=' but what is the average amount of weeks after surgery, before the first fill? Right now I'm not aware of much restriction, and it's annoying. I guess I'm in bandster hell - LOL.[/quote']

it was 3 weeks until my first fill.

I get my first full tomorrow and my surgery was 2/19. So that's, what-- 7 weeks?

Seems my surgeon is extra conservative. I don't mind so much because I am learning more every day. I feel like if I can limit myself now, without any restriction, then I am bound to be successful down the road.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
