Or clotting factors showed a risk for clots so he is referring me to a hematologist he said that it would not prevent from having surgery but I may need to take a blood thinner before and after surgery for maybe 4~6 weeks or so.like lovenox I am gettin anxious did anyone else have to go through this?? I kinda dont no what to expect right now I dont no what this.means

It's not a huge deal but good they know it ahead of time.

You just may have to give yourself an injection for awhile before and after the surgery to prevent blood clots. The needles are tiny, the injection is given in your stomach, and it doesn't hurt at all (at least I never felt it).

Same here. I actually developed a blood clot 5 months before surgery. Had to give myself Lovenex shots for weeks. Absolutely no big deal once you give yourself the 1st one. I had to take a syringe to my 50th bday dinner to give myself the shot in the bathroom!

So are any of you still taking the lovenox shots now? I am just curious for afterwards in the future what will this mean for me....i have a family history of stroke, heart disease, hypertension, artherosclorosis, diabetes, etc..you name it...many family members have passed very young from these complications and it worries me for the future as I am on google trying to find info I see people on coumadin etc...did anyone get referred to a hematologist? What did they do? More tests? I am just worried they will tell me I have one of the family problems I am trying to avoid I have no health problems so this is a first

I just stopped the Coumadin, 7 months after my blood clot. I had a torn meniscus in my knee which was the only clot risk factor I had. Strange thing is that my 20 yr old son had the exact same thing following an ankle injury. I was sent to a Hematologist to determine if we both had a clotting "factor". Did not, but my Vascular Dr says many "factors" are not testable and still thinks that is the reason for the clot.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
