Sorry if this has been posted but I searched and couldn't find what I am looking for. I am 8 days post-op and the glue over my incisions (5) is still sticking around. In the shower, I don't really "scrub" the areas. Some of the glue has peeled off but it can painful. Has anyone else had this problem? How did you get the glue off?

TIA

the glue will wear off.. it's just annoying.. I wouldn't do any scrubbing of those areas much. in a few weeks or so you won't be able to see it..

The glue will come off on its own. It should last 10 days or so. You dont want to peel it off yourself- that is what is holding your incision together right?

In a couple more days if its still bothering you, you can scrub it off with one of those facial scrubby things that have loofa on one side. Check with your doctor first, but I had an allergic reaction to the adhesive that drove me nuts with itching and my doctor gave me the ok to gently scrub it off in the shower.

I was told not to pick at it, peel it, etc. However, i was told if there is a loose piece hanging that is getting stuck on clothing, to take clean scissors and cut the part that is hanging and nothing more. They stressed the need to leave the clue alone. I actually don't scrub my cuts at all. I use a mild soap over them and that is it.

I left it alone...the doc really stressed this. It was annoying but eventually it went bye bye...warm Water and normal washing when I showered...that's how I got the job done.

I had to remove adhesive that was left behind from all the bandages that were used for my IV, etc. To remove that, I warmed the skin with the hairdryer, used baby oil on a cotton ball and gently rub the area of adhesive, let it sit for a few, then took nail polish remover to get what was still left behind. Easy to remove this way.

My doctor took off my strips on my post-op appt (8 days after surgery) and told me that I could use finger nail polish remover or just straight acetone. I used baby oil on the site where my IV was and it came off good.

Had my first post-op appointment yesterday (12 days out) and I had put some baby oil to start softening. My dr started to clean my belly button incision and I freaked out! LOL. It didn't hurt obviously and he made fun of me. Told me to continue baby oil and the incions would be "clean" in no time.

it sounds crazy but my sister that is an RN gave me this tip and it worked. Plan old alcohol on a cotton ball.

It doesn't sound crazy at all! What's crazy is that I am squeamish about removing the glue, LOL

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
