Just slow down and breathe. This a process to becoming healthy. For some it can be a long process for others they see improvement quickly.

You may not have any weight loss in the beginning or you might. It's different for each person. Don't become frustrated. Talk with your doctor. That's the best place to get information.

Come here for encouragement and to read others stories. But always remember your doctor is the best one to tell you what should be happening.

Alot of us have been where you are. Post op recovery goes on for weeks. Your body is in survival mode and alot of us see little or no weight loss in those first few weeks. Some even gain as their bodies go into starvation mode. This process is all about patience......having patience for me, was the hardest part.

Hang in there...

The first 4-6 weeks after surgery are for healing not losing. Your concern should be following your post op diet and giving your stomach time to heal.

If you are truly concerned about weight during this time, you could always start counting calories. I actually starting tracking my calories and monitoring portion sizes from the day I got home from the hospital. I'm pretty sure this is why I lost weight consistently even while in the post op diet phase.

Arent you supposed to loose the most weight in the beginning? I'm on my fifth day after the surgery and don't feel like I've lost any weight!!

This isn't a quick fix! It's going to take time, patience, and will power in the beginning. Patience, exercise, counting calories and following lap-band rules and doctors visits in the middle. And all of the above to maintain! It's easier than without the band, but still a lot of hard work on your part!

Please don't be your own worst enemy by having unrealistic expectations right out the gate. This is a long term commitment and there's no rush. Give your body the time that it needs to heal. Follow the dietary instructions you've been given, and go for 10 minute walks if you're up to it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
