I was banded on 2/19 and just had my first fill today. I think I overheard him tell the other guy in the room he gave me 2cc's. How much did you get on your fill? Is that the normal amount??

How many times did you have to get filled before you found the right amount??

I think it depends on a lot of things. My doctor didn't put anything in my band when he placed. Then my fills are done with floro so they add until the barium goes down at a certain rate. I think my first fill was 1cc. I have had fills anywhere from .2 cc to 1.5 cc just depending on the rate at which the barium went through. Knock on wood, I have not had to have an unfil yet.

I'm so confused when I see everyone's fill amounts! I just don't understand how some people can be ok with 2-3 cc's and some people have 9 cc's... I don't want it to take such a long time to find my green zone if I am one of those people that need 9ccs!

I had my first fill on yesterday. They measured the about that initially put in. Apparently I had 2cc in there from the beginning and she at 1cc. I felt restricted before the 1cc was added, but i am on liquids until tomorrow. I even feel restriction when driking Water.< /p>

Everyone of us is a different size, with a different sized stomach, and a different amount of fat where the band is. It will be really strange if we all didn't take different amounts.

My fill history, starting at 5 weeks and then every two weeks afterwards.

1 - 1cc

2 - 3cc

3 - 1cc

4 -.3cc

5 -.4cc Today

The amounts are based on my responses to the questions, about satiety levels and if any foods are sticking. BTW, as far as I am concerned, I am in the green zone.

This may sound harsh, but there is no way to predict how you will react to fills or how long it will take to find your green zone. You kinda just have to grit your teeth and remind yourself that you made this decision for the rest of your life, not just a few weeks, a few months, or a few years.

I was one of those people who needed 9cc+ in my band, but we're not the norm. Most people need less. My very first fill was 4cc, for all the good that did me. Your journey is going to be as individual as you are. What I can say, is that even though it seemed to take forever to find my green zone, it was worth it. So try for a little patience, and you WILL get there. Good luck!

As others have posted, the amount of Fluid in your band to create proper restriction is very individual, and varies on a case by case basis.

I had to wait for 14 weeks post op for my first fill due to medical complications, and I still was able to lose weight during that time.

My band was not primed with Fluid when it was placed, First fill was 3cc.

I how have 4.5cc, and am in the green zone, or at least as close to it as I believe I will ever get. I have an 11cc Realize band.

My surgeon has shared that usually 5cc is enough to create reasonable satiety and stave off hunger for 4 hours. He and I agree that a band too tight only places you at risk for complications, so I have been very conservative with my fills.

Best wishes for a successful journey...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
