Surgery tomorrow BUT have a cold

Recommended Posts

So worried my surgery on Wednesday the 27th will be canceled. I got a cold Sunday and have a runny or stuffed nose, sneezing, overall congestion and feel kind of hot and cold simultaneously :( thoughts?

Most likely will if you have a fever, but know its for the best!

only your doctor can advise if the surgery will go as planned or not.

if you are sick or have a cold, call and let them know so they can tell you or possible reschedule

I know you are excited, but take the incentive to reschedule.

Your immune system is on overdrive combating your illness. You truly need to be in the best health possible so you can sustain a surgery and address recovery (ie wound healing) without being further susceptible to infection.

If you think postponing the band is bad, try being sick WITH postop pain AND a potential to not get adequate nutrition to combat the initial issue-the cold.

Postponed, not my choice. I feel heartbroken and spent the day sleeping and crying.

Sorry to hear you had to reschedule I can imagine it would be heartbreaking. Please remind yourself it is in your health's best interest and it will happen very soon. Get better and reach out for support when needed.

I was in the same situation (being sick during scheduled surgery) and I tried every remedy I could find to get rid of it. The morning of my surgery I was still congested and coughing up phlegm so I told the anesthesiologist who was a little apprehensive, but we still went through with it. Let me tell you that not only was I scared for this during my surgery, when I woke up I had to cough so bad b/c of the phlegm and congestion build up in my chest and it was painful. I'm so sorry for your disappointment. When is it rescheduled for?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
