My surgery is scheduled for next Thursday 3-28-13...I'm on the shakes and bars with one meal a day diet. A couple times I replaced a shake with chicken or a potato :( I've never gone over my 1120 calories a day I'm just wondering if that will affect anything..?

THE ONE THING I LEARN WHILE I WAS BAND IS WE PUT SO MUCH EFFORT ON GETTING THE LAB BAND & FOLLOWING DOCS DIET PLAN, that we CAN DO IT WITHOUT THE BAND.. The band is only & extra tool to help u loose the weight! U have to switch your diet! Just please make sure you understand that it's a tool NOT A magic wan! Best of luck I been in band for 1 year already and I thank god that I haven't regain all the 90 pounds I lost! While banded! Please please remember it's only a tool not a wan! You will need exercise and eat extra clean !

im new too and am in the preop stage Newbie.... if it makes you feel better my doctor only allows the Protein Shakes and nothing else. I was on here looking for help on how to make it through these two weeks. I find it even hard because I have small children and husband that I am cooking for and I am trying not to sample the things Im cooking. Plus, I decided not to tell my family I was going through the surgery and my mother and sister and I call each other on three way while watching the cooking channel almost everyday. For some reason they haven't missed a freaking day calling. I have cried almost every day. I did cheat today and I ate grilled chicken breast and broccoli. I know the advice seems hard but the truth hurts and but I know your family loves you and mines loves me so we MUST pull it together and not have any more cheat days because I dont want to end up dead on the table because I did not follow directions or other complications. Everyone is here to help take the for what it was ADVICE.... They have paved the way for us. Hope this helps. Start a new tomorrow.

If you're going to cheat, cheating with low glycemic foods is the way to go.

When I mentioned the chicken and potato that was last week. My first week of the pre op diet was rough. This past week its the opposite. I don't feel hungry, I'm supposed to do 1120 calories but but the past few days I've had 700-900 calories and that's because I had to force myself to drink a Protein Shake cuz I know I need the Protein. I know its a process in changing the way u think about food. I'm excited for my procedure this coming Thursday and for my journey.

Honestly, part of it is breaking the mental relationship with food and it sounds like you've gotten past that now! ^_^ You are going to do great. Now that the countdown is on, isn't it exciting? A little never racking too... but you've got this! :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
