What kind of gas-x should I be getting for post op gas pain, I only see capsules at the pharmacy ? Are you able to swallow capsules or is there a tablet form?

i was required to have gas x strips. They come in different flavors I like the cinnamon. But they are awesome and have worked wonders. I think you can only have 4 per day, not positive about that though.

I got the gas x strips that dissolve on the tongue, but they were a waste of money...they didn't work on my gas shoulder pain, gas x works for intestinal gas....the only thing that worked was a heating pad. Best Wishes :)

I couldn't find the strips anywhere, but I found chewable peppermint and cherry ones. The peppermint ones were gross, but I liked the cherry ones. I found they worked wonders for my gas pains! They took away the gas in my stomach so it wouldn't migrate to my shoulder!

Post op laparoscopic shoulder pain is caused by pressure of the gas used during surgery on the phrenic nerve, which connects the stomach and shoulder.....so says my extremely qualified surgeon....gas cannot migrate to the shoulder, the pain in the shoulder is nerve pain...but hey whatever works for you..

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
